Project Overview

This home improvement business offers a modern, eco-friendly approach to kitchen remodeling by avoiding full, expensive tear-outs. Instead, they utilize a hybrid model that blends existing layouts with custom cabinet refinishing and structural updates to achieve high-end aesthetic results. Operating across the populous Salt Lake and Utah Valleys, they partnered with our agency to move beyond traditional word-of-mouth and establish a highly scalable, predictable stream of local remodeling projects.

The Challenge

When entering the highly competitive Utah home remodeling digital market, the client faced a severe "Cost Barrier." At the start of their campaign, bidding on high-intent keywords like "kitchen remodeling" and "cabinet refinishing" was incredibly expensive, stretching their ad budget thin. Furthermore, because their business model sits between standard painting and a full kitchen overhaul, general home renovation searches were driving up costs without delivering matching conversion value. They needed a strategic partner to structure a campaign that could scale volume while driving down acquisition costs.

Our Approach

We implemented a Three-Phase Paid Search Progression designed to safely test the local market before aggressively scaling budget into high-efficiency channels.

  • Phase 1 — Controlled Launch & Data Gathering (Oct–Dec 2025): We initiated the campaign with a conservative budget, testing traditional search networks. While impression volume remained low, we deliberately absorbed higher CPC rates ($5.00–$10.00) to harvest clean conversion data and isolate the exact terms local homeowners were using to find hybrid kitchen services.
  • Phase 2 — Strategic Scaling & Smart Campaign Integration (Jan–Apr 2026): Backed by distinct data trends, we scaled the campaign’s reach dramatically. We shifted the primary budget away from expensive text-only keywords and funneled it into visual, lower-CPC assets like Google Shopping and Performance Max campaigns. This caused monthly impressions to surge from 5,244 in January to 42,689 by April, while dropping average CPC from $8.64 down to just $0.67.
  • Phase 3 — Hyper-Efficiency Locking (May 2026): Moving into the peak home improvement season, we locked in total efficiency. We adjusted bidding structures and negative keyword parameters to maximize click share while driving CPC down to its lowest point in the campaign’s history.

Results

The transition from a cautious, data-gathering phase to an optimized multi-channel deployment completely revolutionized the client’s ad spend metrics. Through careful optimization and placement shifts, we slashed the client’s CPC from a premium $10.00 at launch down to just $0.35 by May 2026. Monthly search impressions skyrocketed from 1,809 at launch to a staggering 42,689 at the peak of our scaling phase. The campaign successfully delivered 2,621 high-intent clicks and 107,823 total impressions to local homeowners researching kitchen upgrades, while holding total spend to a highly efficient $7,373 across the entire lifecycle. The steady stream of inbound traffic and leads allowed the client to maintain high operational capacity and secure consistent project booking volumes.

Takeaway

For local home service contractors, achieving scale does not have to mean accepting inflated ad costs. By treating the initial launch phase as a data collection tool and transitioning to visual asset networks, we proved that you can increase local visibility by over 2,000% while reducing clicks to fractions of a dollar. True efficiency in local PPC comes from knowing exactly when to pivot away from broad text keywords and into high-intent asset streams.

What’s Next?

Moving forward, we are maintaining our hyper-efficient Google Ads framework to ensure a steady pipeline of inbound kitchen projects. Our upcoming optimizations will focus on further refining regional targeting boundaries between Salt Lake and Utah counties, A/B testing ad creative to capture more long-tail design trends, and continuing to maximize the client’s lead volume at the lowest possible cost.
